uBlock Origin No Longer Supported in Chrome? Here's What to Do

If Chrome shows uBlock Origin as no longer supported and turns it off, that is not a bug. Google has retired Manifest V2, the extension platform uBlock Origin was built on, so the classic version can no longer run in Chrome.

Why did this happen?

Manifest V3 changes how ad blockers work. Instead of inspecting each network request, extensions must register a limited set of blocking rules in advance. uBlock Origin's original design is not compatible with those limits, so Chrome disables it. Firefox still supports the old design, which is why it keeps working there.
